Actress Cailee Spaeny, known for her critically acclaimed series ‘Devs’ and ‘Mare of Easttown’, is in talks to star in the new film in the ‘Alien’ series.

The information was exclusively revealed by the Deadline, who pointed out that the momentum for 20th Century Studios’ new “Alien” is building from strength to strength. The future film will be directed by Fede Alvarez, with Scott Free as producer.

According to Deadline, 20th Century Studios has not commented on the information. Little is known so far about this new film, other than that the iconic ferocious race of alien beings called Xenomorphs will be at the center of the plot, once again reigning terror against the humans who cross their paths.

Reports indicate that 20th Century and Scott Free made it a top priority after hearing Alvarez’s proposal. After a recent script was turned in, things picked up speed only to get the film in front of the cameras in early 2023.

Executives are currently working to align the film’s cast, but Spaeny reportedly emerged as the top priority for the lead some time ago after attending several meetings with producers and Alvarez.

The 24-year-old actress is best known for her roles as Lyndon in the sci-fi series ‘Devs’ and Erin McMenamin in the detective ‘Mare of Easttown’. In addition, Spaeny will star in Sofia Coppola’s new feature “Priscilla,” in which Priscilla Presley will live alongside Jacob Elordi who will play Elvis.

The new “Alien” still does not have a definite title, nor a confirmed premiere date.
