World Cup gets official clip with Nicki Minaj, Maluma and Myriam Fares

FIFA has released the music video for the new official song of the World Cup.

Entitled “Tukoh Taka,” the track has a strong electronic house beat and is sung by American rapper Nicki Minaj, along with Colombian Maluma and Lebanese Myriam Fares, who could scandalize the Middle East with her participation. Fares is a Christian and is often criticized by Arabs for her “provocative” style of entertainment, particularly her choice of wardrobe and hairstyle, which draw comparisons to Shakira.

In the clip she looks very sexy and steals the show in skimpy clothes, singing in Arabic and dancing with the traditional snujs in her hands. It is worth mentioning that the World Cup takes place in Qatar, one of the most conservative countries in the world.

However, the song is very danceable, infectious and the first in the history of the World Cup to have lyrics in English, Arabic and Spanish.

Directed by Edgar Esteves (from French Montana Clips) and Juan Felipe Zuleta (Maluma’s partner), the video alternates between the three artists and images of supporter buses crossing the desert, between flags, team uniforms and great choreography. Among the scenes produced especially for the clip, the edition also includes images of stars of the event, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Thomas Muller and James Rodríguez, but not Neymar.

“Tukoh Taka” is, in fact, the second song released by FIFA for the Cup. In April, the recording of “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” came to light, which featured the participation of Trinidad Cardona, Davido and Aisha, in a mix of reggae and soda jingles that did not excite.

Despite this musical emphasis, several artists invited to attend the event declined, such as Shakira, Rod Stewart and Dua Lipa, protesting the lack of rights for women and LGBTQIAP+ people in Qatar.
