II Expo Dia da Consciência Negra has 74 commercial stands and hosted debates, conferences and performances by artists such as Majur, Luedji Luna and Péricles throughout the weekend
The City Hall of São Paulo closes this Sunday, the 20th, the II International Expo Day of Black Consciousnesswhich celebrates the struggle date of the Brazilian black population with conversations, debates, musical attractions and trade stands at the Expo Center North🇧🇷 Between 10:30 and 11:30, there will be a special panel to discuss the challenges of prison population in the country.
“It is our history. It is what we have produced, because we are the protagonists of this daily struggle. Being black in Brazil is something extremely particular, everyone has their own experiences and perceptions. Militancy requires strength and courage to restructure ourselves on a daily basis”, said Elaine Gomes de Lima, organizer of the exhibition.
The event is organized by the City of São Paulo, in collaboration with the Municipal Secretariat for International Relations (SMRI) and other municipal departments, with the aim of stimulating debate on the racism structure and involve the population in its struggle “In the first edition we talked about the past, present and future of the black population in our country. This year we will address the role played by the black population in the abolition of slavery”, he explains Martha SupliciMunicipal Secretary for International Relations.
The exhibition has 74 commercial and 26 institutional stands, an exhibition area, a children’s space called “Erê” and cultural, educational and community areas. Over the weekend, panels were promoted on crucial issues related to the constitution of racism in the country, such as the role of the abolition of slavery for the black population. Among the musical attractions, names such as Greater🇧🇷 Pericles🇧🇷 Luedji Luna🇧🇷 wisdom and other.
Especially this Sunday, there will be free transport to the event from the Barra Funda and Tietê metro stations.
