Actor Ryan Reynolds, who lives Deadpool in theaters, has revealed that a Marvel anti-hero Christmas movie is almost a reality.
“Four years ago [os co-roteiristas de Deadpool] Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and I have written a Christmas movie starring Deadpool,” Reynolds said in an interview with The big problem🇧🇷
However, according to the actor, a practicality ended up preventing the production from moving forward. “It got lost in the chaos of Disney’s takeover of Fox and never came to fruition,” Reynolds explained.
Despite saying the film didn’t take off, Ryan Reynolds hasn’t ruled out that it could happen in the future. “Maybe one day we can make that film. It’s not a musical, but it’s a Deadpool Christmas feature. Then one day.”
While the Deadpool Christmas special didn’t happen, the character was already featured in a special in December 2018, with the launch of “Once Upon a Deadpool” on Fox, a new way to tell the events of “Deadpool 2” in a friendly way for the whole family.
Ironically, the special ended up being included in the same rating bracket as ‘Deadpool 2’ in the UK.
While the Deadpool Christmas special isn’t a reality yet, the character will return to theaters in “Deadpool 3,” which will be the anti-hero’s debut in the MCU. The film is scheduled for release on November 8, 2024 and will feature the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Also, this week Marvel Studios will release the “Guardians of the Galaxy” holiday special, closing Phase 4 of the MCU. Then Phase 5 will begin with “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”.
