The Netherlands’ victory over Senegal sees problems with fans entering the stadium

Fans who went to watch the Netherlands win 2-0 over Senegal in the first round of Group A of the 2022 World Cup encountered some problems at Al Thumama Stadium in Qatar. Many have managed to enter the venue without even buying a ticket.

According to the newspaper Brand, there was a failure in the system and as a result, fans could enter the arena simply by showing the Haya Card, which serves as a visa for tourists to travel to the host country of the World Cup. The document is obtained by purchasing a ticket for only one of the 64 matches of the tournament.

Due to the confusion, the Spanish newspaper reported that there were still people entering Al Thumama without even having a Haya Card. At the gates, the authorities offered no resistance to stop the fans.

Even with “free access”, the stadium was not crowded. During the match between the Netherlands and Senegal, several empty seats could be seen in the stands.

This, by the way, is not the first game in which fans have recorded problems. In England’s 6-2 defeat to Iran, many people found it difficult to access the virtual ticket and, therefore, were unable to access the Khalifa International Stadium or were delayed.
