After two years of isolation, tourism is growing again and Campos do Jordão should welcome almost 100,000 people to celebrate Christmas
A survey conducted by the Central Bank said foreigners spent $416 million in Brazil in September alone, the highest month since the Olympic Games, which were held in 2016. The survey also points out that between January and September , $3.6 billion entered the country with tourism alone.
Based on data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the Tourism Council of the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (FecomercioSP), carried out a survey and said that Brazil also had a record in national tourism in August since 2015, moving R$ 17.6 billion.
In smaller cities, such as Campos do Jordão, located inland from São Paulo, tourism continues to advance. The municipality, which currently has 52,400 inhabitants, has a GDP of R$1.3 billion.
According to Luciano Dutra, partner of the Gran Paradiso Resort, the city should continue to grow in the coming months. “In 2021, the tourist projection for Christmas was to receive more than 400,000 tourists, and this year, with the restrictions released due to the pandemic, I believe the city should receive more.”
On Sunday (6), Campos do Jordão reopened the Capivari Park cable car, which had been closed for renovations since November 2021. “Attractions, tours and entertainment help attract more tourists to the city, they are strategies that work and generate profits for the sector”, comments Dutra.
The city has different types of accommodation, such as chalets, hotels, inns and resorts. “According to the internal survey, conducted by Paulo La Galia, director of the Union of Hotels, Restaurants, Bars and Similar (Sinhores) it is estimated that at the end of the year the occupancy rate will reach 90%, i.e., the expectation is to have a very profitable end of the year,” analyzes Dutra.
According to the Associação Comercial Empresarial (ACE), Campos do Jordão received more than 1.5 million tourists between the months of June and August, considered the peak months due to winter and school holidays.
The entrepreneur also analyzes that in the last five years, according to the report Timeshare Development Scenario in Brazil, the timeshare real estate market has grown by 30%, and investing in this type of business will further strengthen tourism and the local economy.
