Marvel directors will produce a series about the collapse of FTX

Looking to diversify their portfolio, the Russo brothers, film and television directors, plan to create a series for Amazon based on the collapse of FTX.

The idea is to show how the cryptocurrency company, which was once considered the largest and most well-known of the cryptocurrency exchanges in the market, came to such a swift and scandalous end.

For those unfamiliar with the case, FTX filed for bankruptcy not too long ago, but this was followed by several events that culminated in the company’s demise so quickly.

FTX digital assets fell in value in early November, shortly after its biggest rival in the industry, Binance, announced it would sell its remaining FTT (FTX token) due to “recent revelations.”

Also, before Binance wanted to divest all of its FTTs, CoinDesk reported that Alameda Research, the trading firm founded by then FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, was primarily backed by FTT tokens.

“The situation adds to evidence that ties between FTX and Alameda are extraordinarily close,” CoinDesk wrote. Alameda was reportedly in financial trouble and allegedly used deposits from FTX customers to pay off debts.

After this information was released, FTX’s small investors and clients wanted to jump ship before it went bankrupt, and that was the beginning of the company’s bankruptcy, as they sent out withdrawal requests, causing a liquidity problem. During the entire crisis, Binance also announced that it was considering buying its rival, but quickly withdrew.

This collapse and collapse of one of the largest cryptocurrency wallets still has a lot to investigate and a lot more to the story, so a lot can be expected from the series.

According to Variety, Amazon has greenlit an eight-episode limited series adaptation and plans to begin production next year. David Weil, a producer and director who has previously worked with the Russo brothers, will write and produce the pilot episode.

Meanwhile, Anthony and Joe Russo, known for directing four Marvel Cinematic Universe films, are in talks to direct and executive produce the show.

Right now, it’s unclear what storyline the Russo brothers will follow, but Variety said the series could be based on “insider reporting” from reporters already investigating the FTX scandal. With these cards up their sleeve, the directing duo are also in talks with several Marvel actors to play key roles in the series.

However, it’s worth mentioning that Amazon isn’t the only company interested in this story. Shortly before the announcement of this mass-production order, Deadline reported that Apple was close to signing a seven-figure deal for the rights to a book about FTX founder Bankman-Fried, which is being written by Michael Lewis. But unlike Amazon, Apple plans to turn Lewis’ book into a feature film.
