“The Walking Dead” actor broke both feet on set; see other injuries in the series

Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, ‘The Walking Dead’ Negan, has revealed that he fractured both feet while filming the 11th and final season of the series. This isn’t the only injury a star on the show has suffered, and cast members have racked up injuries over the years.

‘The Walking Dead’ premiered in 2010 and ran for a total of 11 seasons, ending this year. The series has grown into a major franchise and has spawned several spin-offs already released and others still in production.

Morgan first appeared on the series in the final episode of season 6, and went from hated to fan favorite due to his unique personality. With all of this success, Negan got his own series, the spin-off ‘Dead City’ in which he stars opposite Lauren Cohan (Maggie Rhee), which won its first teaser this Friday (25).

But earlier, Morgan revealed in a quick Twitter post that he broke his foot while filming season 11. But now, in an interview with Insidersthe actor said he didn’t just break his foot, but both.

The actor said he wasn’t wearing shoes good enough for the constant jumping and falling and that, at first, he didn’t think the pain in his feet was a problem. He later discovered the matter was more serious, though he struggled with that idea.

“I think honestly I just had shoes that weren’t very good and bounced and landed a couple of times. It started as nothing, a hairline fracture. And then it got worse. My heel bones are no longer smooth. I was going to have surgery between sets [The Walking Dead] and the new [Dead City]🇧🇷 And I was about three months old and I went to Spain to do a commercial. And I had one… [hérnia], this happened to me. So I had to have surgery and I was like, ‘Fuck it. My foot will have to survive.’”

More wounds in “The Walking Dead”

The long-running production has had several injuries in the 12 years it has been on the air. Morgan eventually had the surgery and claims she’s “fine” now. But breaking his feet wasn’t Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s first injury on “The Walking Dead.”

While filming episode 8 of season 8, titled “As It Has to Be”, Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) broke Morgan’s nose during a fight scene, a fact that became famous at the time. Discussing the injury, Morgan said that even though Lincoln didn’t land the punch like he should have, the two continued to film the scene and Morgan didn’t need to have any corrective surgery.

In addition to Morgan, there are other known cases of injuries sustained throughout the series. Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) suffered a concussion while filming the show’s final season. The head injury was severe enough that Reedus said he “thought I was going to die.” The incident caused filming to be halted for several days.

However, the most serious accident in the filming of ‘The Walking Dead’ ended in the death of stuntman John Bernecker, in July 2017. The professional suffered a fatal fall after falling inches from the safety mattress. ‘The Walking Dead’ paid tribute to Bernecker during its season 8 premiere.

All episodes of all 11 seasons of “The Walking Dead” are available on Star+.
