The goalkeeper had a wicked afternoon in a match against Morocco when he missed the opening goal of a 2-0 win for the Moroccans
Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has shown that he is very upset after his country’s 2-0 defeat against Morocco this Sunday (27) in a match for the 2nd round of Group F of the World Cup. As he left the field, the player punched hard at the protection of the substitute bench, before going to the locker room. The images circulating on social media show the goalkeeper’s action (see video below).
After saving a penalty against Canada and ending the match a hero, Courtois had a bad afternoon against Morocco. The Belgian goalkeeper missed the opening goal in the Moroccans’ 2-0 win and acknowledged his mistake in an interview after the final whistle at Al Thumama Stadium.
“It was very difficult. I didn’t do well with that free kick. I let the ball go through, as a goalkeeper it’s lethal and frustrating,” said Courtois.

And it wasn’t just Courtois who was outraged by the result, after the match hundreds of people took to the streets in Brussels, the Belgian capital, to protest and cause havoc with the local police. Demonstrators armed with pieces of wood, a fire and the destruction of light poles were reported. The information was given by the newspaper ‘RTL Today’.
In the next round, Belgium will face Croatia for a place in the round of 16. The match will take place on Thursday 1 December at 12:00. Courtois spoke about the decisive duel and declared that the Belgian team will enter with a definitive mindset.
