Brazil tries to qualify for the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. This Monday, the national team faces Switzerland for the second round and, based on the result of the other match in Group G, between Cameroon and Serbia, can get their passport stamped for the knockout phase. However, you will have to break a taboo for this one.
The Brazilians have never beaten Switzerland at the World Cup. In all there were two clashes, with two draws. To make matters worse, under Tite’s command, Brazil lost once against Switzerland, in a friendly held in Basel, in 2013.
The first meeting of the two teams took place at the 1950 World Cup in Brazil. For the group stage, a 2-2 draw at Pacaembu. The last duel was at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The match was both teams’ debut in the competition. The 1-1 draw frustrated Tite’s men.
Brazil got off to a better start and opened the scoring, with Philippe Coutinho, in the first half. In the final round, the Swiss reached a draw, with Zuber.
