The sequel to Knives Out only played briefly in select theaters in the US, but it brought in a lot of money for Netflix.

For five consecutive days, Glass onion: a knife-edged mystery was playing in the United States, but only in a few theaters. The film officially debuts on Netflix only in December.

The strategy, however, has been quite profitable for Netflix: Between knives and secrets 2 broke records and grossed $9.3 million in just three days of screening in fewer than 900 theaters, making it the 10th-biggest opening there.

The feature film has surpassed the films The doors1991, which grossed $9.1 million in 840 theaters; And Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason2004, which grossed $8.68 million in just 530 theaters.
