Weta FX, Cinionic, AMD Advanced Imaging Society Awards Ceremony

The Advanced Imaging Society recognized nine technical breakthroughs at the 12th Lumiere Entertainment Technology Awards, which were presented at brunch at the Wynn Resort on Saturday as the NAB Show kicked off in Las Vegas.

Awarded by AMD, Brompton Technology, Cinionic, HP, Prysm Stages/Lux Machina/NEP Virtual Studios, Qualcomm Technologies, Tencent Media Labs, V-Nova Limited and Weta FX.

Cinionic was recognized for its Barco Series 4 SP4K-55 laser film projector with a brightness of 52,000 lumens. Weta FX’s featured face fabrication system uses film visual effects neural networks to display the final likeness of the face.

Tools used in the virtual production processes included Brompton, which received the Tessera SX40 LED Video Processor Award, and Prism Stages/Lux Machina/NEP Virtual Studios for VFX LED Capacity.

AMD Award-Winning EPYC Multi-Core Data Center CPU; HP, for its Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition VR headset; Qualcomm, for its Snapdragon Spaces XR development platform; Tencent, for its “holographic” live stream; And V-Nova, your tip for a cloud compression circuit.

“The delays of the last two years have been incredible creative catalysts,” said Jim Chabin, president of the Society. “We are extremely proud to honor these partners for their compelling support in storytelling.”
