Prince William meets Biden in Boston

Prince William met with US President Joe Biden in Boston on Friday as part of a multi-day visit by the British royals to the United States to highlight efforts in addressing global environmental challenges.

The trip, which began on Wednesday, is the first overseas trip by William and his wife Kate since Queen Elizabeth’s death in September and bears their new titles of Prince and Princess of Wales.

On Friday afternoon, William met with Biden outdoors along the Boston waterfront. The two took a short walk before a private meeting at the John F. Kennedy Library.

The two were expected to discuss “shared climate goals” and the “prioritization of mental health issues” among other issues, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters ahead of the meeting.

William this Friday will award the Earthshot Prize, which he established, which recognizes people working to tackle climate change.

“We want to demonstrate what we can all do to help set the world on the path to a stable climate where communities, nature and oceans thrive in harmony,” William said in an op-ed published in The Huffington Post.

The royal couple last visited the United States in November 2014, at the invitation of then-President Barack Obama to the White House.
