CCXP22: “Dungeons & Dragons” movie panel brings stars to Brazil

Paramount hosted an exclusive panel at CCXP22 for the upcoming movie ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honra Entre Rebeldes’ this Sunday (04). It was attended by major Hollywood movie stars, who are part of the sci-fi cast based on the famous RPG.

Presented by Marcelo Forlani and Maria Bopp, the highly anticipated film panel saw the participation of Brazilian producer Jeremy Latcham, directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein and actors Chris Pine, Hugh Grant, Regé-Jean Page and Justice Smith.

During the panel, conducted in the form of an interview with the cast, directors and producer, two new and exclusive scenes from the film were shown, as well as a behind-the-scenes video that provided new details on “Dungeons & Dragons: Honra Entre Rebeldes.” While the first scene includes a heavy dose of humor, the second one will get D&D fans excited for easter eggs.

Throughout the panel, the directors and producers were confident that the film would be on par with Marvel blockbusters. By the way, the trio have a lot of experience with Marvel Studios.

While the directors co-wrote ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, Jeremy Latcham served as associate producer on ‘Iron Man’, co-producer on ‘Iron Man 2’ and executive producer on ‘The Avengers’, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ ., “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming”.

As for the actors, the Briton Hugh Grant made a lot of jokes and was worried about the result of the match between England and Senegal in the round of 16 of the World Cup (the match ended in a 3-0 victory for the English ). Judge Smith ventured a few sentences in Portuguese.

“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Rebels” will be released in theaters on April 13, 2023.

A mysterious helmet, which appears in the film’s trailer (above), is the centerpiece of the first “Dungeons & Dragons” scene shown during CCXP22. To try to locate the helmet, whose whereabouts are unknown due to an epic battle that took place in the past, the group composed of the characters of Chris Pine, Justice Smith, Michelle Rodriguez and Sophia Lillis use a kind of coin to resurrect the dead in that past battle.

Humorously, they resurrect three of the people killed in the fight, but are unable to locate where the helmet is until the end of the scene. The audience at CCXP22’s Thunder Stage laughed during the scene, which also resulted in some scary moments with the dead waking up.

The second scene is set in a labyrinth in a large, medieval-style arena. There the character of Hugh Grant appears, announcing the start of the Southern Games. Once again, the group with the characters of Chris Pine, Justice Smith, Michelle Rodriguez and Sophia Lillis appears on the scene.

This time, the group is elevated into the arena, where the labyrinth appears, in another scene showing the production level of “Dungeons & Dragons”. In a moment that drove fans crazy, two other groups emerged to compete with the main group, and one of them had costumes similar to those of the characters from “Dragon’s Cave”, animation inspired by the same fantasy RPG.

Monstrous panther-like creatures appear in the arena, and the groups flee into the labyrinth, where they are pursued and met with traps. Along the way there are chests, which mainly contain weapons, although one of them turns out to be a trap.

The scene ends in a tense moment, with Chris Pine’s character cornered, and we don’t know the fate of any of the main characters, although some of the characters in the other groups appear to have tragic endings.
