President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) will meet throughout this Tuesday with the leaders of PSB, PDT and Solidarnosc to step up negotiations on the proposed amendment to the Constitution (PEC) on the transition and governance of his future administration.
In Brasilia since Sunday evening, Lula has been “recluse” in the hotel where he is staying with the former mayor of São Paulo Fernando Haddad (PT), the favorite for the finance ministry. It is at the hotel, the new PT headquarters in the capital, that the president-elect receives parliamentarians and articulators while he tries to unblock the PEC and assemble the Esplanada dos Ministérios. There is a possibility that Lula will spend the weekend in Brasilia. Next Monday, 12, he will be certified by the Higher Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
On Monday 5, after meeting with US security adviser, Jake Sullivan, Lula spent the day in internal meetings with Haddad and other allies, such as the national president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann; the technical coordinator of the transition, Aloizio Mercadante; and Senator Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), PEC negotiator in the Senate. Also among the favorites of the Ministry of Defense was former TCU minister José Múcio.
Vice-President-elect Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) worked at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, seat of the transitional government.
