Formula 1 has signed a contract extension and secured the Dutch GP at the Zandvoort circuit for a further three years. The race is therefore guaranteed on the calendar at least until the end of the 2025 season.

Zandvoort took advantage of the orange wave created by Max Verstappen in F1 to return to the calendar, but had the relaunch postponed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the race in the Netherlands only repeated in 2021.

He had originally been signed on a three-year contract in 2020, but the postponement of the first meant that the expiry date was moved after the 2023 test. However, a longer extension has since been negotiated.

The Zandvoort round met with much praise within the paddock, not only for the organization of the GP, but also for the experience offered to the fans over the weekend. Last May, Alfa Romeo boss FrĂ©dĂ©ric Vasseur assessed that the track marked a “huge change” for F1, “not just for the spectacle, but for everything that surrounds a grand prix”.

This year’s race sold out 100,000 tickets, but the organization also had problems with the behavior of the fans, who used the orange flags, causing the interruption of activities several times. In addition, reports of cases of sexual harassment have also been recorded.

“The Dutch Grand Prix has quickly established itself on the calendar as a fan favourite, bringing incredible energy and a great experience for the fans every year,” said Stefano Domenicali, series managing director. “The sold-out events of the past two years have raised the bar in terms of organization, entertainment and sustainability and we are delighted to extend our relationship with them,” he celebrated.

“There is huge demand to host F1 races, so this is testament to what the team has done to cement Zandvoort into the calendar up to 2025. We can’t wait to return next summer.”

In total, Zandvoort has hosted 32 GPs. Jim Clark is the biggest winner with four wins, followed by Jack Stewart with three. Max Verstappen already has two victories. Among the Constructors, Ferrari is the most successful with eight victories.
