Netflix’s new series Wandinha, which brings a new story of the iconic Addams Family, has been a huge success, breaking records and occupying the first place in streaming ratings. But for the Addams’ daughter to come this far, many other productions have explored this universe over the years.

Despite all the success it is having among the youngest, Wandinha comes from a long way between comics, TV and cinema to get here. The Addams family appeared to the world in 1938, in the cartoons of Charles Addams published in the New Yorker magazine (find out more here).

In the 60s, the Addams went from paper to small screen, then landing on the big screen, conquering the world and never losing the attention of young and old.

The Addams Family (1964)

The Addams Family’s first appearance was in the 1964 series. The Addams family is considered a television classic, and was released on the American television network ABC. The series has a total of three seasons, airing between 1964 and 1966.

Carolyn Jones played the iconic Mortícia, John Astin experienced the first live action Gomez, Jackie Coogan brought Uncle Chico to life, Feioso was played by Ken Weathervax, Ted Cassidy played Tropeço, and Wandinha was played by the actress Lisa Loring.

The Addams Family (1991)

The Addams family first hit theaters in 1991 with director Barry Sonnenfeld’s acclaimed film. The film was successful at the box office, although it was not well received by critics.

The film stars Anjelica Huston, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Morticia Addams, Raul Julia as Gomez Addams, Christopher Lloyd as Fester Addams and Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams.

Addams Family 2 (1993)

Unlike its predecessor, the sequel The Addams Family 2 was a critical success, but didn’t do as well at the box office. The production is back with the same cast and director as the film above, and is best known for its acid jokes.

The Addams Family (2019)

In addition to live action productions, the Addams have appeared in a few animations. In 2019, MGM released the film The Addams family, animation that achieved global success. Chloë Grace Moretz voiced Wandinha Addams, while her parents were voiced by Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron, and her brother by Finn Wolfhard.

Addams Family 2: Hit the Road (2021)

With the success of the previous animation, a sequel hit theaters two years later, in the form of animation The Addams Family 2: On the Road🇧🇷 The voice cast is back almost complete, with the exception of Finn Wolfhard, who has been replaced by Javon Walton as Ugly Addams.
