Actors fired after criticizing their show or film: one fired over the phone

#1 Katherine Heigl

The actress was part of the original ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ cast whose character was eliminated. For six seasons, Kathryn played Izzy Stevens, a performance that in 2007 earned her an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

However, when the shortlist for the 2008 Emmy Awards was announced, Heigl withdrew her name because she believed her character did not have good material to warrant a nomination for the big award.

This action and the reason behind it was not well received by the production of “Grey’s Anatomy” and shortly after Izzie Stevens disappeared from the plot of the Shonda Rhimes series.

#2 Megan Fox

The actress rose to international stardom for her role as Mikaela Banes in the Transformers saga. However, it was no longer planned for the third installment ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’.

In September 2009, Megan spoke negatively about Michael Bay (director of most of the films in this franchise) and his comments cost her the role of Michaela.

“He is like Napoleon and he wants to create this reputation as a notorious and insane madman. He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So it’s a nightmare to work,” he commented to “Wonderland” magazine.

Almost two years after those statements, Michael Bay revealed to GQ magazine that he wasn’t really offended by what Meghan said. However, Steven Spielberg, the film’s producer and a proud Jew, was the one who made the decision to continue the project without the actress.

“He was in a different world, on his BlackBerry. You have to stay focused. And you know, the Hitler thing. Steven [Spielberg] He said, “Wash her right now.”

#3 Chadwick Boseman

The Marvel actor and Michael B. Jordan first appeared on screen together in “Black Panther.” However, years ago, they also shared the same character: Reggie Montgomery on “All my Children.”

Chadwick was the first to play this role. However, after a week of filming, she complained to the producers that she did not like the way her character portrayed various racial stereotypes.

His opinion was heard but the changes in his character did not happen with him. The producers fired him and replaced him with Michael.

“They said, ‘You’re too annoying,’ but they accepted my suggestions or some of them. And for me, honestly, that’s what it’s all about,” Boseman said in a conversation with The Wrap in January 2019.

#4 Selma Blair

The actress from “Hellboy II: The Golden Army” (which can be seen on ViX+) brought Kate Wales to life in the series “Anger Management”, but her character was eliminated in the full production of the second season.

In fact, Selma didn’t criticize her series, but rather complained about her co-star Charlie Sheen’s work ethic, TMZ reports.

These criticisms prompted Sheen to threaten to quit the production if Selma was not fired. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor eventually fired the actress in a text message, which included several long words.

#5 Charlie Sheen

The actor managed to fire Selma Blair from ‘Anger Management’, but he didn’t escape being fired from his own show ‘Two and a Half-Men’.

During the production of this hit series, Sheen had several run-ins with the law that were not well received by the show’s production.

The final straw, however, was when he called series creator Chuck Lorre a “clown” and hurled anti-Semitic slurs on the “Alex Jones Show” radio show.

After that, Charlie Sheen was fired and his character died in the series.

#6 Chevy Chase

The actor was recognized for his role as Pierce Hawthorne in ‘Community’. However, in season four, Chevy was frustrated with the direction of his character and unfortunately expressed his disgust at the racial slurs during a discussion with production.

According to ScreenRant, her language offended some members of the cast and production, and the decision was subsequently made to remove her character from the series.

#7 John Amos

The actor played James Evans Sr. on “Good Times,” but his character was cut after he criticized the way the white writers portrayed African-American characters on the show.

Amos explained on “Sway in the Morning” that he questioned the writers, explaining that the things they were writing didn’t really represent the African-American community.

“I looked at each of them and said, ‘Well, how long have you been black?’ That just doesn’t happen in the community. We don’t think like that. We don’t act like that. We don’t let our kids do that.”

Ultimately, the production felt that John had become a “distraction”, and they preferred to continue the series without him.

#8 John Rhys Davies

For three seasons, the “Indiana Jones” actor played Professor Maximillian Arturo on “Sliders.” However, there came a point where he no longer agreed with what the writers were doing with his character.

“Take me to [los guionistas] and I complained. But they said, “John, why don’t you say the words exactly as they are written?” and I was like, ‘I’ll tell you what, I’ll say the words right when you can write smart sentences!'”

Unlike other celebrities on this list, John preferred to just step back and say goodbye to the series, which continued for two more seasons without him.
