Veteran actor Al Pacino, 82, stole the show at The Game Awards 2022, the US video game industry’s awards show, when he was invited to present the Best Performance trophy Thursday night (12/8) at Microsoft Threater of Los Angeles.
He had the audience roaring with laughter – and the event producers cowering in embarrassment – by revealing that he’s never played many games. The actor released the statement after tinkering with the script and getting lost in reading the teleprompter’s text.
“It might come as a shock to you, but it’s hard for me to see the hunchback,” she said, before admitting, “I don’t actually play video games much.”
Pacino corrected the statement with a strategic “but”. “But I’ve spent a lot of time watching my kids play and I’m absolutely impressed and amused by the unique and engaging ways video games tell their stories.”
Oscar winner for ‘Scent of a Woman’ (1992), the star presented the trophy for best performance to Christopher Judge, for his role of the protagonist Kratos in ‘God of War: Ragnarök’. The actor is best known to fans of the series as the alien Teal’c from “Stargate: SG-1” (1997-2007).
By the way, “Elden Ring” was named game of the year at the “Games Oscars”.
