Neymar praised coach Tite this Sunday through a publication on his social networks, which he called an “open letter”. The number 10 of the Brazilian national team defended the work done by the coach in leading the team and admitted that, at the beginning of his career, he didn’t really like the then commander of Corinthians.
“Before we met in person we played many times against me and can I tell you? I thought you were very annoying! Because you put together a team to guard me, you did everything to beat me and you even spoke badly about me. But fate is funny right? He put you as a coach and me as number 10,” wrote Neymar.
Although Tite’s first impressions weren’t the best, Neymar enjoyed the six-year period he was able to work with the Brazilian national coach and get to know him better.
“I knew you as a coach and I already knew you were very good, but as a person you are much better! You got to know me and you know who I am and that’s what matters to me. I come here openly to thank you for everything, all the teachings that the Lord gives us gave, and there were many…”, he continued.
It’s worth mentioning that shortly after Brazil’s elimination in the quarter-finals of the World Cup, Neymar made a point of bashing his former manager, Wagner Ribeiro, who hasn’t spared criticism of coach Tite on social media.
“You will always be one of the best coaches I have ever had or will have, I will always praise you. We had beautiful moments, but we also had moments that hurt us a lot, and this last one will hurt us for a long time. You deserved to to be crowned with this Cup, we all deserved it for everything we did and for everything we gave up to try and make our biggest dream come true. But, God didn’t want it that way, never mind. He gave us everything “Thank you , Professor Tite, for all the learning. And if there’s one phrase I’ll never forget, it’s ‘mentally strong’ and there must be a lot of us in that moment. A big hug and thank you,” concluded Neymar.
