The last episode of the second season of the HBO series The White Lotus debuted this Sunday (11), bringing big surprises and unexpected deaths.

Although many surprising things happen in the final episode of the series, between beatings, betrayals and new relationships, what most marked the episode were the deaths, and how they happened.
From the beginning of the season it was already known that more than one death would take place at the White Lotus Resort. We now know that the dead guests are Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), Quentin (Tom Hollander) and Didier (Bruno Gouery), as well as Tanya’s lover Niccol贸 (Stefano Gianino).
The wild path to these deaths involves a cowboy, a yacht, and an escape gone terribly wrong. Quentin takes Tanya back to Taormina on her yacht, while her supposed nephew Jack (Leo Woodall) distracts Portia (Haley Lu Richardson). However, when Portia finally gets to call Tanya, they both realize that something dangerous is going on.
It all boils down to that photo of two cowboys Portia saw at Quentin’s mansion. As it turns out, the cowboy next to Quentin鈥攁nd presumably the one she told Tanya she was madly in love with鈥攊s her husband, Greg (Jon Gries). It was Greg who insisted on going to Sicily, but he returned home to continue his relationship with an unknown person, leaving Tanya alone. It was then that Quentin and his colleagues befriended Tanya.
As a drunk Jack tells Portia, Quentin and his friends have no money. However, he also says they are in for a big windfall. Tanya puts two and two together: her prenuptial agreement with Greg says she’ll get basically nothing if they divorce. However, if she dies, she is left with her immense wealth. With that, the pieces of the puzzle fall into place. Quentin will kill Tanya for Greg, who will pay him with Tanya’s money to let him run her mansion.
As if the alarm bells weren’t ringing loud enough, Niccol贸, who is either part of the mafia, or very closely linked to it, shows up to take Tanya back to the hotel. Tanya takes her bag, which is filled with standard supplies for kidnappings and murders. Then the unexpected happens: Tanya takes Niccol贸’s gun.
It strikes Quentin, Didier and Niccol贸 himself in a scene as unexpected as it is frightening. It turns out that Tanya “Peppa Pig” McQuoid is actually a one-woman army in a floral print dress. She’s crying too, and that’s understandable. She could ask Quentin for an explanation, but all she really wants to know is if Greg is having an affair. She doesn’t answer before dying, leaving Tanya鈥攁nd us鈥攊n the dark.
With the immediate threat out of the way, all Tanya has to do is get on Niccol贸’s smaller boat and escape. This is hard to do in the dark and in high heels, and before long Tanya is falling head over heels into the ocean. A devastating splash as it hits the side of the boat tells us all we need to know: Tanya, the sole survivor of Season 1 of The White Lotus apart from her terrible husband, she is dead.
The entire episode builds up to this point, but after the shooting, we still have a shred of hope that he’ll escape. tragically, The White Lotus he soon confirms that it is Tanya’s body that Daphne (Meghann Fahy) finds in the water in the very first episode.
The first two seasons of The White Lotus are available on HBO Max. The third season of the series does not yet have a release date.
