Showrunner Lauren Hissrich invites fans to continue watching the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, who will now be played by Liam Hemsworth.
The fandom of The Witcher His jaw dropped in October when it was announced that star Henry Cavill would be leaving the Netflix series after season three, with Liam Hemsworth taking over as Geralt of Rivia.
There has been speculation on the internet about the reasons for Cavill’s departure, such as the series deviating from Andrzej Sapkowski’s original story, but the actor has yet to confirm or deny anything.
Showrunner Lauren Hissrich has spoken about the departure of the Man of Steel actor and has said that she understands that fans are upset by the news, but has encouraged them to continue watching television adaptations, including the new prequel, The Witcher: The Origin of Blood.
“For us it is also a great event. And that’s the thing: there is a lot of talk and rumors and we fully understand why the fans are doing it,” he told TechRadar.
“What I will say is that please come back to see the third season of The Witcher so we can continue to do this. Obviously, Cavill’s departure is big news. But what I don’t want to do is… I want this to remain Blood OriginDeclan (of Barra, the showrunner of Blood Origin), cast and crew. This is his moment of prominence.”
Joey Batey, the actor who plays Dandelion (who will return in Blood Origin) recently responded to the news of his co-star’s departure in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, underscoring how much the cast will miss Cavill.
“Cavill leaving is sad. Henry and I are very close. I knew a little bit before everyone else, really. But to be honest, the whole cast is saying: ‘We are all going to miss him.’ He has worked very hard hard, especially in season 3. We just finished [el rodaje] of the third season a couple of months ago. He is the hardest working man in all of Hollywood.”
