James Gunn confirms Young Superman script

While Henry Cavill’s announcement about the end of his career as Superman still rang, director James Gunn took to Twitter to clarify the news for fans.

In a publications thread, the DC Studios co-president (along with Peter Safran) reiterated that plans for the future of the DCU (DC Cinematic Universe) will be revealed in the early days of 2023, but include a new Superman film. .

“Our story will focus on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character won’t be played by Henry Cavill,” he explained.

Gunn said he and Peter Safran are “huge fans” of Cavill, and during their meeting with the actor they talked about “many exciting possibilities for us to work together in the future.”

He also explained that the film won’t be a new Superman origin story, even though the character will appear younger. The strategy should be similar to the one used by Matt Reeves in the new movie “Batman”.

When asked about the possibility of directing the project, Gunn said he’s been writing the script for some time but hasn’t finalized a director yet.

When an Internet user suggested Ben Affleck’s name, the director said he had already met with the Batman interpreter to direct a project for the studio. But it won’t necessarily be the Superman movie.

Apparently, more details will have to wait for Gunn and Safran’s planned presentation in January, when they reveal their plans for DC Comics heroes.
