The filming of ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ was hard, especially for Kate Winslet who couldn’t help but drop the forbidden word on more than a few occasions.
The premiere of ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ finally arrives, an ideal occasion to remember that the film has cost Kate Winslet money, at least during its shootingbecause of a forbidden word.
“Okay, is a word that begins with ‘F’. And yes, I was the one who got into more trouble“, points out the actress while explaining that there was a jar of swear words in which to put money every time one went off the tongue, a game that had the young Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, seven years old, delighted. “Trinity used to say : ‘Kate, it’s 5 bucks!’ Yeah, she got me into a lot of trouble most days and got really bad off because of the swear jar.”
In that same interview, published in Collider, Winslet assures that Ronal, her character, is the great matriarch of her tribe. “She is the leader of her clan and I believe she will stop at nothing to protect him and what they have created.“, he says. “He cares not only for his family, but for the whole village, the whole community, the Metkayina clan. So the idea that something from the outside could pose some kind of threat is something that I think she, as a mother, feels instinctively and makes her wary. She loves her little tribe, she loves her family, she wants them to be free and not feel restricted or threatened. It was important to me to play that side of her.”
The catelera turns Na’vi blue and we review with James Cameron’s return to Pandorathe universe that he created in the successful ‘Avatar’ (2009), the film with which, once again, he broke the box office.
The truth is that it has been expected. While the mouse house rearranges its calendar over and over again to marry its premieres on Disney+ in the best possible way with the arrivals of its franchises, sagas and different purchases, at 20th Century Studios have had plenty of time to orchestrate this return to a world of eternal lianas, fluorescent bugs and, now also, immense oceans. Will it end up being one of Kate Winslet’s best movies?
“Jim (Cameron) and I are totally different people now than we were 26 years ago,” Winslet explains. “He’s calmer and I’m definitely more hyper now.“.
The actress has taken filming really seriously, including underwater scenes with which she has broken Tom Cruise’s record in ‘Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation’ (Christopher McQuarrie, 2015) in which she was apnea for six minutes. “Seven minutes and 14 seconds, baby,” the interpreter boasts of her brand. “The most amazing thing for me, as a middle-aged woman, was learning something not just new, but superhuman.”
‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ is available in theaters from December 16 and, if all goes well, fans can then get their fill of ‘Avatar 3’ (2024), ‘Avatar 4’ (2026) and ‘Avatar 5’ (2028).
