“I met Ben [Affleck] yesterday precisely because he wants to direct and we want him to direct,” Gunn said on Twitter. Ben Affleck has extensive DC connections, where he has played Batman in several films, including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justicesince 2016.
Other than this comment, James Gunn has avoided confirming Ben Affleck as director of the new one Superman, and said: “we just have to find the right project”. Previously, he said he was writing the future film, but that DC “doesn’t yet know who will direct” the film.
Despite being best known for his work as an actor, Ben Affleck already has an established career as a director. He has directing credits on argon (2012) e The law of the night (2016), both of which also starred him, and he is also directing the upcoming release Air Jordanswhich will tell the story of shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro and his quest to convince Michael Jordan to represent Nike.
