Hosts with rental properties on Booking can cancel reservations in specific situations; check what they are
Once you have confirmed an accommodation from Booking, the guest can cancel the request at any time on the platform, as long as he follows the rules set by the place. On the other hand, there are also situations where the host himself can cancel a reservation.
Whoever manages a property on the platform can cancel the rental of other people in the following circumstances: when the guest asks the host directly, if he does not show up at the location on the agreed day or if there is a payment problem. Find out more about each situation
In which cases can the host cancel a reservation on Booking?
When the customer requests cancellation
Through Booking, the guest can speak directly with the owner and request cancellation. In this case, the host must register this request on the Extranet platform, which is used to manage the registered properties.
Through the platform, access the “Reservations” tab, select the reservation number and proceed to the “Request for cancellation of reservation”. The host and guest will receive a confirmation email. When this happens, Booking does not charge the hosting fee to the host.

When the customer does not show up on the booking date
If the guest does not show up at the property on the agreed date, the host can inform Booking. In this situation, you can waive the cancellation fee, but it also prevents customers from receiving the satisfaction survey after hosting and submitting fake reviews.
No-shows can be reported via the booking extranet or the Pulse app. In both cases, the action button is available from midnight on the day of check-in and can be accessed within 48 hours.
When there is a problem with the payment
It is also possible to cancel a reservation when the guest uses an invalid credit card or does not send the requested bank transfer. In the case of the card, the host can use the extranet to tell the customer that the method is invalid. After 24 hours without a reply, you can request the cancellation on the same platform.
How do cancellation fees work on Booking.com?
Booking charges fees for all confirmed bookings on the platform, whether or not guests stay on site. It is possible to waive the fee only when the host informs that the customer has not shown up or has not updated the credit card.
