Earlier this month, the ADAC β€” Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club, the automobile club in Germany that organizes German Formula 4 and other national categories β€” announced the completion of the acquisition process of the IT extensionthen a partner company of DTM extensionπŸ‡§πŸ‡·

“It will be even stronger, I think, because with the downsizing of the motorsport pyramid in Germany, under the roof of ADAC, it clearly shows that the DTM is the pinnacle of German motorsport,” he said in an interview with Autosport magazine.

β€œThe three letters are well known and there is a great story behind them. But going into GT3 rules was a kind of competition between GT Masters, which also existed for more than a decade. So even if people say that it’s a clear difference, in a way it wasn’t. And I can say that because we did both series,” he added.

The intention of the ADAC is, from 2023, to reorganize the structure of German motorsport and create synergies with other categories – as underlined in an official statement. A press conference will be held in Munich on 8 December and further details on the new DTM operation will be revealed to the public.

“In the US, when they put together Champ Car and [a IRL]it all came together and IndyCar is now looking better than ever, it’s really gotten better,” he explained.

“Now I think that young drivers in Germany or Europe again have a clear goal to achieve if they can’t make their way into single-seaters,” concluded Bernhard.
