Actress Fernanda Montenegro has decided not to renew her long-standing contract with Globo. She was scheduled for a role in ‘Terra Vermelha’, the upcoming nine o’clock soap opera, which will premiere in April. But at 93, she no longer intends to face the intense pace of such a production.

In 2023 has already marked the new film by Walter Salles, who directed her in the famous “Central do Brasil” (1998). The film is an adaptation of “I’m Still Here”, an autobiographical novel by Marcelo Rubens Paiva about the arrest and disappearance of his father during the military dictatorship.
Fernanda will complete 50 years of her first Globo appearance in 2023.
She made her network debut – after appearing in several soap operas on Record and Excelsior – in an adaptation of the Greek tragedy “Medeia” presented as “Caso Especial” in 1973.
However, she was only hired for real in the 1980s, with “Baila Comigo” (1981), and earned her numerous memorable roles, such as Charlô in “Guerra dos Sexos” (1983), Naná in “Cambalacho” (1986), Jacutinga from “Renascer” (1993) and Picucha from the special and series “Doce de Mãe” (2012-2014), which earned her the International Emmy as the best television actress in the world.
