the animation Velmaderived from the series Scooby-Doo, already has a date set to arrive in streaming. According to information from Eurogamer, the production will be released on HBO Max on January 12th.
In the storyline, the series will bring an origin story of Velma, with events involving the character before he met Scooby, Shaggy, Daphne and Fred. The animation will be a solo production, unrelated to other series in the franchise.
Velma will be voiced by Mindy Kaling, who is also producing the series. According to her, her story will be much more adult and gory, with the illustration of violent scenes and some pin pricks with acid humour.
In addition to Kaling as Velma, Sam Richardson, Constance Wu and Glenn Howerton will also be cast in the series and will voice Shaggy, Daphne and Fred, respectively. The production will have a total of 10 episodes and HBO has not yet revealed if they will be released weekly on the platform.
The development of Velma was announced in 2021 and the series was described as a “funny and original story that unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America’s most beloved mystery sleuths.”
