Next iPhone should feature Snapdragon X70 for 5G connectivity, but future models could feature Apple-designed components

It was said that the TSMC extension will produce the chips used for Qualcomm’s future 5G modems. as the iphone 14 brought the Snapdragon X65, it is very likely that the next generation will already bring the most up-to-date X70.
As the Taiwanese company is manufacturing 4nm wafers for a wide variety of customers, including Qualcomm, the X70 is expected to maintain high energy efficiency in iPhones.
The component has already been officially presented at the beginning of 2022, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC). According to the official information of the brand, it is able to offer a 60% reduction in power consumption, while maintaining higher bandwidth, lower latency and higher signal quality.
In practice, this means that the iPhone 15 should bring longer battery life and better network signal in less favorable areas. However, these characteristics can only be attested with the launch of the device, which should not take place before September.
Apple’s 5G modem will not be available soon
It is estimated that Apple’s modem for 5G connectivity should not come out before 2025. And even so, it must have several technologies from Qualcomm itself – after all, the level of complexity for developing such solutions is considered quite high.
Therefore, the relationship between the two brands should remain active for several more years. It’s a different scenario than what happened with the information after the launch of the M-series platforms for notebooks and tablets, for example.
