As is common right now, broadcasters and streaming are anticipating next year’s releases. With HBO Max it was no different, and the platform has released a video introducing what’s to come, which includes – among other things – the first images of award-winning actress Jodie Foster in the acclaimed series True detectivethat will win a new season.
True detective is an anthology series created by Nic Pizzolatto in which each season follows new detectives, investigating different cases. After a few years, the wait is for the arrival of a new season entitled True Detective: Night CountryStarring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis and produced by Issa López and Barry Jenkins.
The US version of HBO Max’s year-end video shows Foster’s first footage of the series. Also, the video teases the release of the series The Last of Usthe new season of And that’s right… A new chapter of Sex and the Cityamong other original productions.
With the title referencing a 1920s pulp magazine of the same name, True detective premiered in 2014, with the season following detectives Rust Cohle and Martin Hart, lived by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, respectively. In the case of the season, the duo investigated a serial killer in the state of Louisiana.
Season 2 premiered shortly after in 2015, with three lead officers investigating a conspiracy ring around a murder: Colin Farrell as Detective Ray Velcoro, Rachel McAdams as Detective Ani Bezzerides, and Taylor Kitsch as Officer Paul Woodrugh.
The third season, which premiered in 2019, takes place in the Ozarks and has Mahershala Ali in the lead role, living detective Wayne Hays. The story takes place in three different time periods, involving the investigation into the mysterious disappearance of two children.
True Detective: Night Country still has no released premiere date and was expected to release sometime between 2023 and 2024. But, with the series appearing in the clip of what’s to come in 2023, it seems safe to believe that the anthology will also return the year next.
