Microsoft Teams will have an expanded view for profile cards

THE Microsoft should release an expanded version of Teams profile cards. The purpose is to display more information about the user, such as contact details, LinkedIn or e-mail addresses, as is already the case in the corporate version.

This new feature should offer a broader view of messaging data. The cards seem inspired by those used for years in email managers such as Outlook and Gmail. Just click on the sender’s name to view the data on the screen in an organized way.

As the program is increasingly used in the corporate environment, people may need information about that contact quickly. This can be especially useful in large discussion groups or multi-industry businesses, where people may have the same or similar title.

Microsoft promises to display more data from the org chart the person is on, if connected to any company. So, in addition to seeing his name and email, for example, you’ll also know what his job title is or what division he belongs to.

More complete teams for companies

So far, the expanded Microsoft Teams tab is exclusive to users of the desktop program, which is still in preliminary testing. If all goes well, the expectation is to make it available to users in February 2023, but still with no set date.

There is no release forecast for the iOS or Android app. While it’s a negative point, it shouldn’t be so heartfelt, after all, most people in the corporate world use Teams on their desktop or notebook computer.

While being a very useful feature for businesses, expanded cards should also benefit personal accounts, which have nothing like them today. It’s much better to have quick access to useful data about your contacts, without having to ask or doubt that it is the person you want.

Earlier this month, Microsoft rolled out a Facebook-style Groups feature attract “regular users” to TeamsS. The idea of ​​community hubs is to bring users together based on common topics, such as throwing parties or a series discussion group.
