Marilyn Monroe, the icon of charm, the main star of the 20th century and above all, the huge actress 60 years after her death, still reveals the same charm. He whose life was nothing but a constant tragedy, in spite of his fame, came to a dramatic end, inflicting trauma all over the world as soon as it was announced one morning in August 1962.
This is a death that still seems cruel and unjust to us, continues to be read by many people. Died of a drug overdose, did Marilyn Monroe commit suicide? Did he accidentally take a very high dose? React
That is why Anthony Summers is the common theme of this feature film. He conducted dozens of interviews with Marilyn Monroe’s relatives on audio cassettes and spent his entire life with a fine-toothed comb to better understand the star’s personality. Much information is now known to the general public from this investigative work, which dates back to 1982.
Marilyn Monroe’s unhappy childhood, her father’s absence, her mother’s psychiatry intern, a stolen childhood thrown out of the house and sexual abuse … then the beginning of a career, a relationship with men. His glory. His marriages. His wounds.
This “scroll”, which makes up two-thirds of the film, may seem superfluous to those who are familiar with the actor’s life. Still, it is useful when we come to the last third, which is entirely dedicated to the Saturday night of August 4, 1962, during which Marilyn Monroe died. Because it’s the whole psychological context that led to this devastating night.

Example of recovery
On the staging side, the director takes Anthony Summers home and into his pantry, where he stores thousands of archives. But we had to find a way to turn all these audio extracts from Summers recordings into pictures. Thus, he chose to reconstruct the scenes with the actors who play Jane Russell, John Houston, Dr. Greenson’s son, Marilyn’s psychiatrist and others close to the actor …
Kennedy’s Secret
The last part of the film is dedicated to Marilyn Monroe’s relationship with then-US President John F. Kennedy and her brother, Robert Kennedy, the country’s attorney general. Then on a very fragile psychological level in the last year of her life, the young woman shrugged her shoulders at these two leading politicians who fought both the Mafia and the war against communists on American soil and the European Communist bloc in the USSR.
The United States was in the midst of the Cold War in 1962, and the Cuban Missile Crisis heightened the US administration’s paranoia about a possible nuclear attack on its territory. Marilyn, she knows about the nuclear tests conducted by the Kennedys in Nevada. But he also confides in his love problems to loved ones.

Marilyn Monroe with Robert Kennedy and John F. Kennedy
The actor listens though. An illegal hearing set up by Jimmy Hoff, a mob boss who wants to oust Robert Kennedy, who is suing him. And another, presumably from the FBI, but unofficial. The film also reveals that Anthony Summers received assurances based on consistent evidence that Robert Kennedy was present on the night of Marilyn’s death and that they would have a violent argument.
However, Summers does not go to the conclusion that Marilyn would have been killed. Robert Kennedy left the stage when the actor was still alive. But his presence, on the other hand, would have been disguised to avoid a national scandal. Anthony Summers is convinced that Marilyn died of a drug overdose, accidentally or voluntarily…
