People have positioned themselves in favor of democracy, says the new governor of Bahia

“In these last elections, the Brazilian people took a clear position in favor of democracy and the recomposition of the constitutional framework. The inversion of values, contempt and intolerance, brought to their ultimate consequences in the last four years, no longer society,” Jerônimo said in his inaugural speech.

“Just look at what happened in the 2022 elections. It was useless to viralize fake news on social networks, nor to give life to shady operations that even tried to delay and prevent the arrival of voters in their sections”, added the neo Governor of Bahia.

He also said that the electoral platform is over and that a united and hate-free Brazil is needed. “Brazil is one”.

At the inauguration ceremony, the national anthem was sung by a representative of the original peoples of Bahia. Thus, some words were spoken in Portuguese, others in dialect.

Jerônimo is the first self-proclaimed indigenous governor of Brazil. He takes charge of Rui Costathat again this Sunday takes over the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The two will travel to Brasilia at the end of the morning to accompany the inauguration of President Lula.
