Pons was present in MotoGP in 2005, in partnership with Honda. Troy Bayliss and the Brazilian Alex Barros formed the pilot duo of the satellite team. Sito returned to the team in 2009, but in the intermediate, 250cc class.

“That was his clear answer. We asked him for many years if we could get seats in MotoGP. There was an opportunity once but we missed it because no factory gave us bikes,” he added.

“When Suzuki announced its withdrawal in May, we did it again. We spoke to Carmelo. We have the resources, we have the experience. But unfortunately there is no place,” he concluded.
