“I hereby discredit it.”
DC Studios co-chairman, James Gunn, has denied the latest rumors about the dark future of ‘Wonder Woman 3’ and for the character not to fit into Gunn’s own plans in the DC Universe.
Despite rumors that Wonder Woman would not be part of Gunn and Peter Safran’s “interconnected three-year vision for the cinematic universe”, a concerned fan on Twitter asked Gunn to “disprove” the rumorprompting Gunn to reply, “I hereby discredit it (only because it’s not true).”
However, it’s unclear if he meant there are plans for Wonder Woman to appear in the first three years, or was saying that the claim was false because it’s actually an eight to 10 year plan, rather than three years.
Gunn said in November: “We’ve spent the last two days with a group of some of the best writers in the business, starting to map out that eight to 10-year plan of what it’s going to be on film, on TV, in animation, across the board for these characters.”
Since Gunn and Safran were named co-CEOs of DC Studios in October, several new developments have been announced.
Henry Cavill will not reprise the role of Superman, while Dwayne Johnson confirmed that Black Adam “will not be in his first chapter of the story” and, to everyone’s surprise, Ezra Miller is not entirely ruled out for the future of DC.
Last month it was also reported that hePatty Jenkins’ plans for a third installment of ‘Wonder Woman’ had been rejected because they didn’t fit the new direction of the studio.
Last month, Gunn addressed rumors that Gadot had dropped the role of Wonder Woman in response to a fan who said “the move to cast Cavill and Gadot doesn’t inspire confidence.”
Although Gunn denied that Gadot had been “cast,” some fans speculated whether this meant the star was staying on as Wonder Woman or was instead leaving the role of her own free will.
