And in a possible ‘Avatar 5’ the Na’vi could visit the planet Earth
Through the first two films of the ‘Avatar’ saga, the inhabitants of Pandora have been divided into two Na’vi tribes: the Omaticaya, who live in the forest, and the Metkayna, who make their home in the water. James Cameron has now announced his plans to introduce a new clan, “The People of Ashes” in ‘Avatar 3’.which will show the dark side of the (until now) peaceful Na’vi.
Cameron affirmed for total films that ‘Avatar 3’ will explore “different cultures than the ones I’ve already shown. The fire will be represented by the ‘Town of the ashes’. I want to show the Na’vi from another angle because, until now, I have only shown their good sides.“.
“In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples,” the director continued. “In future ‘Avatar’ sequels we will do the opposite. We will also explore new worlds, while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best. The first ones were an introduction, a way of setting the table before serving the food.”.
From what the director reveals, it seems that the confrontation in ‘Avatar 3’ will not be between Na’vi and humans but between different Na’vi clans, creating the first war conflict between inhabitants of Pandora seen in the franchise. Although ‘Avatar 2’ has just been released, the third installment of the saga has already finished its production but we will have to wait until the December 20, 2024 to be able to enjoy it on the big screen.
The producer of the saga Jon Landau also recently announced that, if the story goes as far as ‘Avatar 5’, the Na’vi will visit planet Earth.
“I wasn’t going to talk about it,” Landau told gizmodo“but [en ‘Avatar 5’] there is a section of the story where we go to Earth. And we are going to that to open the eyes of the people, to open the eyes of Neytiri, to what exists on Earth”.
“Earth is not only represented by the GDR [la organización malvada de la franquicia conocida como la Administración de Desarrollo de Recursos]”, said. “Just as you are defined by the choices you make in life, not all humans are bad. Not all Na’vi are good. And that is the case here on Earth. And we want to expose Neytiri to that.”
