Palmeiras know Danilo’s farewell is a matter of time as offers have already peaked. Thus, the football department begins to draw up plans to make up for this absence so important for Abel Ferreira’s team. The names that have circulated in the Alviverde management and in the press are in European football, but the investments should only start when Cria da Academia has finalized the negotiations with its future team.

The one who stands out in the preferences of Alviverde’s technical staff and managers is midfielder Jean Lucas, formerly of Flamengo and Santos, and currently from Monaco-FRA. According to the newspaper L’Équipe, the French club has made a proposal of 13 million euros (R$72.2 million) + Jean, valued at 7 million euros (R$38.9 million), for the rights of the young man from Palmeiras.

Although Jean Lucas is well-regarded within Palmeiras, the club does not like this type of offer, as the minimum amount to start conversations is 20m euros (R$111.1m). The will is to enhance Danilo as much as possible and the economic return is essential for agreeing to sell the piece. In that case, the negotiation for Jean would be separate. Especially since Nottingham Forest-ING have arrived with an offer which is within alviverdes’ objectives and are ahead.

Another option would be Matheus Henrique, ex Grêmio, who defends Sassuolo-ITA. The midfielder also enjoys prestige in the Palmeiras football department and his arrival is frowned upon. With the Italian club, however, there has been no approach, only surveys on the player’s situation. You would need to invest in outright purchase to hire him.

The decision to wait to make any movement in the market for this position is due to several reasons, mainly the issue of cash flow. To count on a player who is close to Danilo’s level, a significant investment would be needed, which is not possible at the moment, only when there is the certainty of an income from transfers.

It is worth mentioning that the money from Endrick’s deal will gradually enter Palmeiras’ coffers and will only appear in the balance sheet for accounting purposes starting from 2024. Therefore, any investment with that money would cause a hole for the 2023 season. who says it would be possible try to keep Danilo until mid-year, gaining time and resources to look for a replacement, not counting the technical return for another semester.

In summary, Palmeiras thinks of leaving Danilo, but will calculate very well the movement they will make in order not to take the “wrong shot”, a procedure adopted even more diligently in 2023 by the board. If the reinforcement is not “the reinforcement”, the option will be to give space to young people from the grassroots. Spending money (which is no longer plentiful) on other bets is out of the question.

So far, Verdão has not made any signings this transfer window but has lost names like Gustavo Scarpa, Wesley and Jorge. Despite this, the team continues with a strong backbone going in search of Paulistão’s second consecutive league title starting next Saturday (14th), at 18:30, against São Bento, at the Allianz Parque, for the first round of the stage state group.
