History

The film Noise tells the story of Julia (Julieta Egurrola), a mother who suffers from the disappearance of her daughter Gertrudis. The 25-year-old went on a trip with her friends and disappeared without a trace. The starting point of the film is nine months after her disappearance, with no information about her whereabouts.

The desperation expressed by the actress who plays Julia is quite moving, mixed with the willpower to stay still to move forward. THE movie it shows that without the mother’s battle to get information about what happened, there would be no updates from the authorities, who treat the disappearances with contempt.

Soon, the agony experienced by Julia is transmitted to those who watch, to those who hope for good or bad news, in every detail that can, at least, bring comfort. Her mother is the family member most involved in the process of finding her, which ends up alienating her from the rest of her. Julia even attends a support group and gets the same daughter tattoo as her, to always remember her by her side.

Julia’s search for her only daughter intensifies as the plot progresses, giving way Noise creepier scenes to watch. At one point, he bribes a police officer to search a truck full of bodies, in a desperate move to find Gertrudis’ body. From then on everything becomes more intense and heavy.

real problem

Long Noise, we understand that the problem of missing women in Mexico is real. This wave of violence is caused by human trafficking and drugs, and corruption and negligence by the authorities do not appear to contribute to a solution.

Julia finds herself in a protest group set up by young women, offering an emotional connection, as her mother discovers she’s not alone in this. Finally the movie it is not a simple story of kidnapping, but a serious denunciation of what is happening in the country.

Noise manages to protest, inform, move and, above all, tell those who suffer from the loss of a daughter, a sister, a friend or a mother that they don’t have to face all this alone. The film is now available on Netflix.
