Possible misuse of the corporate card generates good memes

The spending on hotels, bakeries, snack bars and motorcycles by the Presidency of the Republic during the Bolsonaro government has attracted attention.

A few hours before getting excited about the discovery of a draft scammer at the home of former Justice Minister Anderson Torres, the internet is abuzz with the dissemination of the first data on the use of company cards by the Presidency of the Republic during the Bolsonaro government, released by Knowdata agency specializing in the LAI (Access to Information Act).

Possible misuse of the corporate card generates good memes

“Corporate card: Bolsonaro spent 1.46 million reais on a single hotel and 362,000 reais on the same bakery,” headlined the Stage. On the fine line: “Of the R$27.6 million spent in the former president’s government, there are also spending on ice cream, cosmetics, a pet shop and Havana; Lula’s first administration spent R$59.1 million R$ and Dilma R$ 42. 4 million.”

THE Sheet was “Bolsonaro’s corporate card shows spending R$4.7 million on holidays and motorbikes” in the headline, followed by the thin line “R$500,000 for a hotel in Guarujá and R$20,000 to watch the Palmeiras game are among records; the data is still insufficient for an exact comparison with other presidents”.

Profiles of Bolsonaro supporters, such as Te Actualizei, highlighted information that Lula and Dilma spent more, but without reserving that the data is not yet exactly comparable.

On Twitter, people collected the most suspicious data on the previous government’s spending, such as the various payments of R$ 9,000 a day to the same snack bar in São Paulo.

Or the R$ 109,000 disbursed in a single day at a restaurant in Boa Vista (RR) specializing in packed lunches.

Further investigations must conclude whether there has been misuse of public money in these and other cases. But we can already conclude that there has been a very good use of memes.
