Napoli beats Juventus and extends its advantage at the head of Italy

Napoli extended their lead at the top of the Italian league. This Friday, Spaletti’s team beat Juventus 5-1, at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, for the 18th round of the competition. The home team thus reaches 47 points, while the Turin team is in 3rd place, with 37.

This result ended Juventus’ eight-game winning streak in Serie A. Meanwhile, Napoli secured their second consecutive victory.

The Italian leader has an appointment set for next Tuesday, January 17 at 5pm (Brasilia time). The Neapolitans duel with Cremonese in search of a place in the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup. Juve, in turn, will face Monza on Thursday, at the same time, also for the round of 16.

The game

Napoli already took the lead in the 14th minute of the first half. Osimhen takes advantage of the rebound from Kvaratskhelia and gives the hosts the lead. Shortly after, Juventus responded with Di Maria, but the Argentine narrowly missed.

With yet another job well done by Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia, Napoli expands. The number 9 shirt plays for the winger, who gets rid of the marking and ends up 2 – 0. Three minutes later, Allegri’s team starts a certain reaction and reduces the score. The Argentine receives a good pass from Milik and takes a corner from Meret.

Upon returning in the second half, Napoli did not allow themselves a break and doubled their lead in the 10th minute. After a corner kick in the area, Amir Rrahmani kicked on goal with no escape for the Turin archer.

The fourth goal came soon after. Osimhen received a cross in the box and went further up the defense to put the ball into the net and score his second goal of the match. Even with the great advantage on the scoreboard, Spaletti’s team didn’t give up and extended the defeat until the 27th minute: Elmas received in the area and finished on goal. Before entering, the ball was deflected again in the defender of the Brazilian Selection Alex Sandro.

The Brazilian trio is not doing well

For this duel, Juventus coach Maximiliano Allegri chose the Brazilian trio in defense: Alex Sandro, Bremer and Danilo. However, the athletes, who played for the Brazilian national team during the Qatar Cup, did not have a good match.

“Suffocated” by Napoli’s attack movement, the Juventus defense was unable to avoid defeat. Defender Bremer missed the move before the fourth goal. Meanwhile, Alex Sandro saw the ball deflect off his back in Napoli’s fifth goal.
