With all the attention his latest film has attracted, Avatar: The Way of Waterdirector James Cameron took the opportunity to make a surprise appearance at the Television Critics Association Winter 2023 to announce two new projects, both documentary series focusing on conservation for National Geographic.
Productions with names The secrets of bees And Penguin Secrets (Secrets of the Bees and Secrets of the Penguins, respectively, in free translation), which will be the new installments of the director’s ongoing “Secrets” series for National Geographic, which began airing in 2021 with The Secrets of the Whaleswhich, looking back, was a great homage to a new character from the sequel to avatars.
These two additions to the documentary series will be released in the future after The Secrets of the Elephants. Watch the trailer below:
James Cameron’s love of the environment has been a longtime passion for the director, as evidenced in avatarsa story about respecting the natural world, with a strong focus on the impacts of deforestation and mining.
Cameron has also made many documentaries over the years, including a 2014 3D show funded, again, by National Geographic called Deepsea Challenge 3Dwhich took the director into the depths of the ocean to explore and photograph the unique life in the deep sea, while also capturing images never before recorded by mankind.
“What draws me is my endless curiosity and fascination with the natural world and how it works, and how quickly science is starting to answer these questions about how animals communicate,” said Cameron Variety.
The next production in the series, The Secrets of the Elephantspremiered on National Geographic on April 21, 2023 in the United States. There is still no information on the date of the first of the two new productions announced, nor on the arrival of these series in Brazil.
