Aliens, cyborgs… Hell? Natasha Lyonne and Charlie Barnett already have their theories
The second season of ‘Russian Doll’ has just premiered on Netflixbut we are already wondering if there will be a season 3 that continues Nadia’s adventures (natasha lyonne) and Alan (charlie barnett).
Although a third installment of the series is not officially confirmed (for the moment)Lyonne, protagonist and creator of the series with Leslye Headland and Amy Poehleris “very excited” at the idea of continuing, and states that the story has been raised to be able to make a new season.
“Hopefully, the audience’s appetite will be there and they’ll want to let us do it,” Lyonne says. ew. “We are so in love with this show and the process of making it and exploring these big questions.and it’s a really satisfying process from an artistic point of view, so i hope we can do it and that people want us to do it.”
‘Russian doll’. How did Season 2 end?
SPOILERS FOR ‘RUSSIAN DOLL’ SEASON 2
Season 2 has a standalone ending, and could easily be the end of the series if Netflix decided not to continue it. But the idea is that it’s also open enough to allow a continuation. And there are already ideas for her.
After traveling (and breaking!) time, Nadia and Alan accept that they can’t change the past. and whether they like it or not, what happened long ago (and what happened to their parents and grandparents) is why they are the way they are now. By accepting that, they learn what it means to truly live in the here and now.
‘Russian Doll’ season 3. First theories
Natasha Lyonne and Charlie Barnett are already beginning to drop theories about what could happen to Nadia and Alan in a possible third season. Barnett knows that Headland, Poehler, and Lyonne have “something planned for the future,” but he doesn’t know what yet.
Says Barnett: “I know that plan can be modified, edited, reversed and manipulated on all sides, but I know there is something there. If the first season was about death to some extent, the second season is about life, so… What will the next season be about? Will it be about vital choices? Will it try to, I don’t know, expand to a different plane even? Are we going to be aliens?
Other ideas the actor likes include a trip to purgatory or a Dante-esque hell, though he admits with a laugh that “the actors and the lawyers are together in the background of that stage of the underworld“.
Lyonne, on the other hand, has a different idea. “I have been incredibly open about my desire to become a cyborg.“, he says, adding, “and I would like nothing more than to have a half-silver face with a red eye, and in season 3 to just walk around with my robot neck and stuff. Just imagine how cool that would be.”
Hopefully, we won’t have to imagine for long.
