In addition to Robert Pattinson, several actors will play Batman in movies in 2022 and 2023, but DC Comics is also preparing a series in a universe where The Dark Knight had a tragic fate.
The CW production is titled “Gotham Knights” and in February 2022 the recording of a pilot chapter was approved, which has already been announced by several cast members, as well as the characters that will be played in this series where Batman died.
Although the series will be made for the CW, it will not be part of the DC TV universe known as Arrowverse, which includes “The Flash”, “Legends of Tomorrow”, “Black Lightning”, “Batwoman”. and to a lesser extent HBO Max’s “Superman & Lois”.
The series should not be confused with the eponymous video game developed by Warner Bros. Games that narrate the events after “Batman: Arkham Knight”, where Bruce Wayne is uncovered by the Scarecrow and sacrificed at the end of the story.
What will the “Gotham Knights” series do?
The DC Comics TV show will be about the death of Bruce Wayne and a group of young people who are involved in the murder of Gotham tycoon.
To protect the city from villains seeking to take advantage of Batman’s absence, the Dark Knight adoptive son will work with the young men accused of the hero’s death to clear his name and save the city.
The Gotham Knights will start with the funeral of Bruce Wayne and the city is gradually falling into insecurity due to the lack of Batman, so the aforementioned young people will take their place as Gotham’s vigilante.
Production of the series will be Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, while screenwriters will be Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux and Natalie Abrams, who worked on “Batwoman”.
The characters that will appear in “Gotham Knights”
Among the cast that has been confirmed for the series are the names of Misha Collins (“Supernatural”) as prosecutor Harvey Dent, who in the comics becomes the evil Two Face.
It was also announced that Navia Robinson (“Raven’s Home”) will be Carrie Kelley, a brave young woman who wants to be Batman’s assistant. In Frank Miller’s graphic novel “The Dark Knight Returns”, Kelley becomes Robin.
For her part, Anna Lore (“All American”) will be Stephanie Brown, a smart and sarcastic young woman with computer talent. This character in the comics adopts various identities, such as Robin, Spoiler and Batwoman.
Actress Olivia Rose Keegan (“Days of Our Lives”) will also play the daughter of a criminal who was locked up in Arkham Asylum and abandoned as a child. In the comics, you Dent adopts the evil character as The Joker’s Daughter.
A new character to appear in the series will be Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, Turner Hayes, who is struggling to live up to the family name. He will be played by actor Oscar Morgan (“Millie Inbetween” and “De Son Vivant”).
The series is still in progress, so it does not have an estimated release date. However, as posted on Toronto Filiming’s Twitter account on April 8, 2022, photos from the recording set appeared with patrol cars bearing the emblems of the Gotham Police Department.
