Un Si Grand Soleil: “Gael Lestrak Named Alex Hot Iron” by Benjamin Burgua

Un Si Grand Soleil: “Gael Lestrak Named Alex Hot Iron” by Benjamin Burgua

You are now in the main plot of Un Si Grand Soleil. Do you still get this story?

Benjamin Burgua: By this time, in January and February, I had a lot of work to do exactly to capture everything you see on the screen, and then the adventures were filmed and people were going to see other things.

I have very little deadlines until July-August, and then we are still in the signatures of the following years, where the authors have to see what they want to do and where the dialogues between us, production and artistry take place. This is a healthy period because there is a lot of talk.

After being convicted of the murder of Andre Faure, we did not expect to see Gele (Helen Deg) on screen soon. How did you react when you found out that this character was going to return to the TV series?

He is inviolable! (Laughs) I was expecting him to come back, not because the producer told us about it, but because it’s a typical profile of a character we like to see. Such a character who returns from the dead or from very far away … famous “I will come back!“He’s a bit of a part of it and I expected it to disappear at some point.

It was funny because when we filmed the story Gaele appeared outside the prison where he was supposed to help with the investigation, it was already the second time he was back in the series and Ellen Dej jokingly told us there was a chance he would escape and come back once and for all to bother me. And it happened! We did not really expect this, but we felt he would come.

And then it is possible to see him again later, after the sentence has been corrected. The time between reality and fantasy is very short! Pregnancy lasts five months, incarceration decreases … In this kind of fiction, space-time is either extended or greatly reduced. So there is a chance that his sentence agreement will end a little earlier than expected and he will be allowed to return to Alex’s life to spoil it. (Laughs)

Indeed, Alex’s feelings towards Gael always seem difficult and the fact of starting a stable relationship with Julie (Sophie Stubb) can not make him forget this woman …

Yes, it is very powerful, very rooted in it. Gael Lestrak’s character was very eye-catching. There he chooses – rightly so – to no longer poison himself, because despite his redemptive side, there is definitely something harmful behind him.

He will have problems, whether he likes it or not; No matter how much he wants to redeem himself, there will definitely be a difficult situation that will arise if they are ever together again. So Alex chooses to be reasonable and chooses a heart relationship with Julie, but Gael Lestrak calls him a hot iron.

Especially since despite his desire not to see her anymore, this collaboration is on him despite himself, because Gael demands that he be his only correspondent during his penetration …

Yes, he imposes it on himself. In recently aired episodes, he explains why he wanted her to be his link in this operation: the fact that they could trust each other no matter what they experienced. This is the dark side of power! (Laughs) Two opposite units that are connected.

As a result, the couple that Alex forms with Julie risks the test as he begins to suspect that he is hiding something from her in his mission.

Gael’s return dispels many doubts, but I think he is very happy with her. It turns out that he is very governor. There is more clarity between them than their previous accident during the story with Jade, where he had previously cheated and where issues of trust arose. Even if there, he could not be one hundred percent honest with him and tell him about the misfortune he felt towards Gael, he played at the card table on the case he is dealing with.

But once again, the unfortunate boy finds himself with his butt between two chairs: the fact that his hierarchy asks him to say nothing to loved ones, and then this transparency towards Julie, which he tries to maintain in spite of everything. There are still little secrets, even if he admitted that his ex called him back. He tells her what he can say, with a kind of lie missing. Will it backfire? Lets see…

In terms of family life, we have recently been left without news from Davia, Alex’s sister, played by Jennifer Duburg-Bracon. After a strong family intrigue with him some time ago, do you want to tour together again?

We sometimes have personal desires between colleagues, between actors, and interactions that we can imagine, but we are just dolls. Author’s hands! (Laughs) It is unclear what the future holds for the series. We all want our share of the cake, but we are too numerous and enough for everyone.

It is good for the viewer that there are several scenarios, among the police, in family life … However, new characters appear, such as Nadia Fossier.

You are one of the recurring figures in the series since its inception. What would you say today to Benjamin Burgua, who was about to embark on an adventure?

As an actor I would say go, have fun! (Laughs) Do not hesitate, because it is a wonderful adventure where a lot will happen and where I have learned a lot, especially about adapting to the speed of work. I could have done things I could have done last year and before that I failed to do for planning reasons.

But I tell myself that it was written that way and other things can happen if my schedule allows. I try to be calm about it, work as hard as I can and do things well. Obviously, we want to have everything, both butter and butter money, but that’s impossible, so we will have to compromise.

You have lots of scenes at the police station with Moses Santamaria playing Manus. These are often very explanatory scenes for the investigation, which are sometimes superfluous to shoot, but you always manage to bring them in with a dose of humor and complicity thanks to your duo.

Sometimes we do it too much and it hits the wrist. (Laughs) Fortunately, there are people who are a little late, because, obviously, because of the merit of the story, there are some things that are quite informative, there are stages to put in a police investigation.

These are essential scenes that should be understandable, but it’s hard to pull any light from them, and it’s an incredible headache while writing to find comics for authors and dialogue writers.

Therefore, we are always trying to find something natural and living there, to escape from the mechanical side of this structure. We manage to find something with Mois, but we are also very happy with Yvonne, he is an absolutely crazy man. And along with our other colleagues, Constantine Balsan, Aisa Medem and Malia Roman, we are now a whole team of crazy people and we manage to have fun. And it is necessary in such a rhythm.

Finally, do you have any other upcoming projects with the series?

January has been a bit quieter this year; Last year I appeared in Fabrice Eboue in the film Barbak. It was too short, but I was blown away! It was a great experience of complete freedom, before being shot with so much improvisation. It was a bit like a luxury lab that I could work with Eboue and Marina Foy, who is a war machine.

I am more with my family now and I will use my time to take care of them. Then September will be a new adventure, let’s see what awaits me at this time … I keep calm, I tell myself, as long as I do the job well and behave well, there is no reason for it to go wrong. ! (Laughs)
