After the BTG and Bradesco measures, Americanas criticizes the unilateral action of creditors

Americanas said on Wednesday that “the creditors’ compensation one-sided attitude towards the company’s liquidity jeopardizes its profitability.”

The statement came after the retailer’s creditor banks announced legal action against the company, which announced last week that it had detected “accounting mismatches” of 20 billion reais and two days later obtained a court decision protecting it for 30 days by creditors.

“Banco Bradesco alone withheld more than 450 million reais from cash, acting in disagreement with the injunction’s decision,” Americanas said in the statement.

Bradesco previously said he asked the courts to allow Americanas to withdraw funds from the bank only with approval.

BTG Pactual, on the other hand, managed to persuade a judge in Rio de Janeiro to reverse a decision protecting Americanas from being charged with a 1.2 billion reais debt to the bank, according to documents seen by Reuters.

Americanas said it would “continue to seek a short-term settlement with its creditors.”
