And while you could be forgiven for thinking a sixth entry could indicate a series is getting a little tired, Scream (2022) — as we’re bound to continue to call it — turned out to be more than a copycat of Wes Craven’s original, bringing exciting new blood to its young cast and opposite duo Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin. Those filmmakers teamed up again with screenwriters James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick for the sequel, and you can catch a new trailer below:

Wow. Even by Ghostface’s usual standards, anyone wearing the Halloween costume isn’t kidding this time around – get ready for an intense harassment session, sanctuary for previous killers, and a vicious attack when Gale Weathers returns to Courtney Cox. we could be somewhere else (SPOILER ALERT FOR SCREAM ’22!) Also really Scream style, here’s some fun and knowing dialogue: “You know you’re the tenth guy to try this, right? It never works for the asshole in the mask! Gale warns. The fact that the movie seems able to balance those zingers with real scares and real stakes is the real magic of the Scream franchise.

Beyond the return of Cox, Barrera, Ortega and Panettiere, cry VI also brings back Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding as twins Mine and Chad Meeks-Martin, while new cast members include Samara Weaving, Henry Czerny, Tony Revolori and Jack Champion. Find out if the sixth sequel lives up to the rest of the slasher saga when it hits UK cinemas on March 10.
