Robert Pattinson will star in the film Mickey Mouse 17new feature film by Bong Joon-ho, Oscar-winning South Korean director known for Parasite. The experience of working with Joon-ho, according to the actor, is something completely new.
In a conversation with ES magazineRobert Pattinson, best known for his starring role in the saga Dusk and has most recently donned the mantle of Batman, has an extensive resume filled with independent films, and has worked with acclaimed directors such as Christopher Nolan and David Cronenberg.
Now he is working alongside Bong Joon-ho Mickey Mouse 17, and despite this vast experience, he says it’s something completely new to him. “It’s with the director of Parasite, Bong Joon-ho, and it’s unlike anything I’ve done before,” says Robert Pattinson. “The movie is so crazy, it’s a completely different style of work.”
The film Mickey Mouse 17, based on Edward Ashton’s dystopian science fiction novel “Mickey7”, Robert Pattinson plays two versions of himself (both clones) who team up to work together. “We talk a lot,” he says.
In Edward Ashton’s story, the protagonist is considered an “expendable” in the service of a human expedition that colonizes the frozen planet of Niflheim. Every time Mickey dies, he is resurrected in a new body with much of his memory intact. However, the reasoning behind the slight name change between the film and the book, from “Mickey7” to Mickey Mouse 17it’s not clear yet.
The film is written, directed and produced by South Korean director Bong Joon Ho, who received worldwide acclaim for his 2019 film “Parasite”, which dominated the 2020 Oscars with statuettes in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.
Mickey Mouse 17 premieres March 29, 2024.
