HBO Max announced this Friday (20) that Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles will direct one of the episodes of “The Sympathizer”. The series is in production and is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “The Sympathizer” by Thanh Nguyen.
The plot follows the comedic adventures of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during his final days in the Vietnam War.
The cast includes names like Robert Downey Jr., Sandra Oh, Kieu Chinh, Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen, Hoa Xuande, Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Vy Le, Alan Trong, among others. Marc Munden was also another announced director.
Three other actors have also been announced. Duy Nguyen will play The Man; Kayli Tran will play the communist spy and VyVy Nguyen will play the major’s wife.
“The Sympathizer” is a co-production between HBO, A24 and Rhombus Media and produced in association with Cinetic Media and Moho Film.
