On April 19th, after 30 years, the cast of ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ will once again don their costumes for a unique event on Netflix, where they will face enemies from the past.
However, after Netflix announced the reunion, some of the original cast members who made up the first Power Rangers were noticeably absent.
In the case of Thuy Trang as Trini Kwan and Jason David Frank as Tommy Oliver, both actors are deceased. The special will feature Trini’s daughter Minh taking up her mother’s mantle as the Yellow Ranger.
It is not known who will be the Green Ranger on Netflix after the actor’s death, but theories are circulating about his identity, such as that David Frank managed to record his scenes or that Adam (Johnny Yong Bosch) will take his place .
The other two notable absentees are Austin St. John (Jason/Red Ranger) and Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), the former apparently not appearing in the special because he was arrested in May 2022 for fraud related to COVID endorsements.
For her part, Amy Jo Johnson broke her silence and cleared up the rumors about her absence from Netflix’s ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always’ to fans, clarifying that she was contacted but turned down the offer.
‘Power Rangers’: why did the original Pink Ranger turn down the Netflix meeting?
Amy Jo Johnson, who played the original Pink Ranger in ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’, explained on her social media why she won’t be at the 30th anniversary reunion on Netflix.
The 52-year-old actress-director clarified that her refusal was not due to a lack of interest in the franchise or a no-show, but that the offer made to her was not to her liking.
